COVID 19 Safety Protocols

Duplain recognizes that Covid-19 is a real and serious threat to our community, therefore, steps should be taken to minimize the risk of spreading the virus. However, we are also firm in our belief that the gathering of the body for corporate worship and fellowship is foundational to our mission as a church. It is with these two commitments in mind that we have crafted the following policies and procedures to govern our meeting throughout the pandemic.

Mask use:

    • 8:30 am service: Masks are required to be worn at all times to be seated in the Sanctuary. Those wishing not to wear masks are invited to sit in Gideon Hall.
    • 11:00 am Service: Mask use is highly encouraged but is not required to be seated in the Sanctuary.
    • Other Adult Events: Mask use is highly encouraged by all wishing to attend other events.

Social Distancing:

    • Everyone is encouraged to remain 6ft apart from those with whom they do not share the same household anytime they are inside the building
    • In the Sanctuary and overflow seating, family groups are seated two seats apart from each other, and all rows are 6’ apart.
    • Hand sanitizer is available in many places throughout the building. All are encouraged to make frequent use of the stations available.

Cleaning Procedure:

    • All high touch surfaces are wiped down with disinfecting wipes before any event takes place in the building.
    • All chairs are disinfected with Lysol Spray
    • Bathrooms are thoroughly cleaned before any event takes place in the building
    • The cleaning procedure is carried out between 1st and 2nd service every Sunday.

 Mask use:

  • In accordance with local school districts, all children in K-5th grade are being asked to wear a mask while participating in Duplain Kidz programming. (Duplain Kidz has masks available at the check-in station)
  • Preschool-aged children are not required to wear masks during Duplain Kidz programming.

Social Distancing Measures:

    • All children complete a COVID-19 symptom screening before entering Duplain Kidz areas.
    • All children have their temperature taken before entering Duplain Kidz areas. (Children with a temperature above 100.4 will not be allowed to participate in Duplain Kidz programming).
    • Elementary (K-5th) children are placed in a classroom with no more than 10 kids. Sibling groups remain together during programming in order to reduce the number of contacts.
      • During large group times, these cohorts are seated together in a socially distanced large group space.

Cleaning Procedure:

    • All high touch surfaces are wiped down with disinfecting wipes before any event takes place in the building.
    • All chairs are disinfected with Lysol Spray
    • Bathrooms are thoroughly cleaned.
    • All toys/supplies are disinfected

Mask use:

    • In accordance with local school districts, all children in 6th-12 grade are being asked to wear a mask while indoors and participating in Proclaim Student Ministries. Proclaim Student Ministries is supplying masks for those who do not have them.
    • Overnight events are special exceptions were wearing a mask would not be feasible. In these cases, intensive symptom screening and temperature checks are performed before and throughout the event.

Social Distancing Measures:

    • All Students are to remain 6’ apart and are encouraged to make use of hand sanitizer while onsite.

Get To Know Us!

We’re so excited you’ve decided to take some time to get to know us here at Duplain! Duplain Church of Christ is located in the country between the towns of St. Johns, Ovid, and Elsie. We are a family-friendly environment and welcome everyone to come as they are to join us for one of our services.

What can you expect if you’re new?

We know most people want their visit to be low-key, so we won’t be asking you to stand up or raise your hand to let people know you’re visiting. When you arrive, you’ll be greeted by one of our First Impressions volunteers and be assigned a seat in the worship auditorium. (A precaution we’re taking during the pandemic)

If you have children (2 years through 5th grade) you’re welcome to check them into Duplain Kidz, our secure Children’s Ministry areas. You’ll receive a “claim check” for your child so only you can pick them up when the service is over. Or, if you prefer, you can keep your children with you until you’re comfortable with them meeting our background-checked, trained Children’s Ministry volunteers.

During the time we’re together we will sing some songs and read some passages from God’s word, share together in communion – a “meal” meant to celebrate Jesus’ victory over sin and death, and listen to about 30 minutes of teaching from God’s word.

You’re welcome to hang out after the service is over, and when you’re ready to leave, we will give you a gift that is our way of saying, “Thanks for being here!”
